Sales and Advertising
Training
Within recent time, the media industry has experienced explosive growth in the broadcast media. Currently there are twenty-two radio stations, seven television stations and counting, 3 daily newspapers, several weekly newspapers, one national cable provider, several Internet Service Providers some of whom have expressed intent to diversify by providing cable services.
Publishers and broadcasters generally have difficulty in finding quality representatives, they often employ sales people either from other media or as new recruits and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Sales representatives from other media find it difficult to abandon their way of doing things although they are experienced in the industry. On the other hand, new reps have to be trained to operate in a newspaper environment and frequently take some time before they can be productive.
